On Thursday evening during RnR: The Inaugural Gathering, campers will gather around a ceremonial campfire to officially welcome everyone to the very first Roots n' Resin Festival.
This special event marks the beginning of the weekend, bringing together attendees, organizers, volunteers, artists, and community members for an evening of music, storytelling, introductions, and shared excitement before the festival officially begins.
It is the moment where strangers become neighbors, neighbors become friends, and the Roots n' Resin community truly comes to life.
Every year thereafter, the Founders' Campfire will serve as the symbolic opening of the festival—a tradition that begins with the inaugural gathering.
The Closing Appalachian Farewell
Every great story deserves a memorable ending.
As the festival draws to a close, Roots n' Resin concludes with the Closing Appalachian Farewell.
Following the final scheduled performance, participating artists from throughout the weekend will return to the
Main Stage for one final collaborative performance celebrating Appalachian music, community, and friendship.
Rather than ending with a single encore, the festival concludes with musicians sharing the stage together—performing timeless songs, thanking the audience, recognizing volunteers and staff, and celebrating the community that made the weekend possible.
It's a farewell that reminds everyone that while the festival may be ending, the friendships, memories, and traditions will continue long after the final note is played.
